Bike Town Spartanburg

The Bike Town initiative is a community-wide collaboration dedicated to making the Spartanburg community the bicycling hub of the Southeast and to improving Spartanburg’s national designation as a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists.

Cannon Equine Instruction

We offer English and Western lessons in a laidback atmosphere that promotes learning. We teach all ages and experience levels and all of our instructors are CHA certified. We also offer training lessons, boarding, and leasing for some of our more advanced students.

Cleveland Park

Cleveland Park is Spartanburg’s most visible public park and is located in the historic center of Spartanburg, adjacent to the Northside Redevelopment project. Used for community meetings, special events, and weddings.

Cottonwood Trail

Currently a 115 acre urban preserve and trail system. Located minutes from downtown Spartanburg, the property protects a 1.5 mile stretch of Lawson’s Fork Creek and several feeder streams.

Croft State Park

Once an World War II army training base, Croft State Park offers Camping and Day-Use reservations over more than 7,000-acres of wooded terrain. The park offers over 20 miles of biking and hiking trails, a playground, picnicking and camping, as well as fishing and boating in one of two lakes.

Edwin M. Griffin Nature Preserve

Over 5 miles of trails offer runners and naturalists a break from city traffic. It provides a place for citizens to run, walk, kayak, canoe, and to enjoy other recreational outings. This urban greenspace has many unique and outstanding features including several wetlands, open spaces, geological formations, and offers habitat for deer, wild turkey, fox, beaver, raccoon, numerous birds and reptiles, wildflowers, and trees.

Glendale Outdoor Leadership School

GOLS provides education and skills training to help people stay safe while enjoying the great outdoors. Located in Glendale, SC near the Pacolet River, GOLS provides hands-on, experiential training for “kids” of all ages in individual sports, including mountain biking, indoor rock climbing and kayaking. Courses also include wilderness medicine for first responders, wilderness first aid, outdoor leadership and team building.

Glendale Shoals Preserve

Glendale Shoals Preserve consists of thirteen acres located at the old Glendale Mill on Lawson’s Fork Creek. The Shoals have plant, animal, and bird life. When the water is low, walk across the shoals, skip some rocks, and enjoy the view.

Greer Country Club

Greer Country Club is a family-friendly golf club in Greer, South Carolina. We are your weekend (or weekday!) destination for fun and relaxation. We have a swimming pool, 18-hole golf course, and more.

Hatcher Garden Public Botanical Garden & Woodland Preserve

Come enjoy a stroll through the garden and relax in the beauty of nature. Hatcher Garden provides the perfect backdrop for a picnic and is a great place to “unwind.”

Heddles Hideaway Country Club

Southern charm still exists. Nestled in the mountains of Spartanburg, South Carolina, Heddles Hideaway offers scenic golf with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.

Hot Spot Skate Park

Developed through a partnership with Spartanburg-based R.L. Jordan Oil Co., Partnership for Active Youth, and the City of Spartanburg, the Hot Spot Skate Park was the first public concrete skate park in the state of South Carolina. The park includes street-style features such as steps, rails, boxes, ramps and ledges. The park also includes a flow course with a pyramid, two half-pipes with escalators, a spine, camel hump, an eight-foot quarter-pipe leading back into the pyramid, and a mini bowl!
