Your Summer Vacation Bucket List: Spartanburg Edition

We may be quite a few years removed from the classic three-month break we all enjoyed as kids, but deep down we’ve all got a little bit of “Let’s make this the best summer vacation ever!” left in us.

Regardless of whether you get a couple months, a week or two, or just a long weekend off, you deserve to make the most of your downtime, whether that means packing in outdoor adventure, attending exciting events, trying new foods,  immersing yourself into arts & culture, or simply taking a beat to relax.

Not sure where to start planning such an epic getaway? We’ve taken all the pressure out of creating the perfect summer bucket list by making this one for you:

Unplug And Disconnect

Turn off the TV, shut your laptop, and put your phone on Do Not Disturb because it’s high time you swap blue-light screens for blue skies.

So, instead of straining your eyes staring at spreadsheets, take a scenic stroll or embark on complex cycling challenge as you traverse our many trails. We have hiking and biking options for all experience and interest levels, so feel free to take it easy or break a sweat.

Instead of slumping a little more with each passing email, stand tall and head to a park where you can join in a game on our basketball and tennis courts, or dance along to a live music performance down at the amphitheater. Our parks and preserves are bustling with diverse flora and fauna, and have amenities that are second to none.

And instead of engaging in mindless chit-chat with your coworkers at the water cooler, rediscover peace, tranquility, and solitude while kayaking across thousands of acres of lakes or fishing in miles and miles of rivers. Mother Nature is the greatest artist that ever was, and you can find some of her best work right here in Spartanburg.

Discover New Ways To Beat The Heat

If you’re anything like us, you probably spend most of your 90-100° days fantasizing about ways to cool off.

Find the oasis you’ve been dreaming about at one of our beautiful hotel pools,  and keep the kiddos from melting thanks to our local waterpark and community splashpads.

Or, retreat into AC and spend an afternoon sipping on an ice cold beer at one of our local breweries, a meticulously mixed cocktail at an upscale bar, or even a milkshake made from homemade ice cream—crafted beverages are the name of the game around here.

Perfect Your Beach Body

The hottest beach body is a healthy, happy one, and we have a ton of ways to help you feel great inside and out!

Since 1995, The Carolina Panthers have held their annual pre-season training camp at Wofford College’s Gibbs Stadium.

For two weeks in late-July/early-August, the team participates in near-daily practices, hosts special events, inspires special promotions at local businesses, and—most importantly—signs autographs for adoring fans at the end of each practice, giving you a fantastic photo op you won’t find anywhere else.

All training camp activities are free and open to the public, so be sure to check out this year’s schedule when planning your visit.
