Your Guide to Spartanburg’s 2023 Holiday Events

Whether you get festive right after Halloween or wait until the calendar turns to December, November means holiday events are drawing near. Check out this guide to Spartanburg County’s 2023 holiday events where you can embrace the Christmas spirit and find the perfect gift for anyone on your list.

EVENTS:

Spartanburg’s most-popular holiday event, the 29th annual Dickens of a Christmas, is set for Tuesday, Dec. 5 from 6-9 PM.

The family-friendly, holiday-themed street festival has something for everyone, with window performances dotting downtown businesses, along with live musicians and carolers performing in the streets. You can find festive foods, a Christmas market, kids’ activities and much more. And the festive night is topped off with the lighting of the Denny’s Plaza Christmas Tree at 7 PM.

PARADES:

Spartanburg County hosts an array of holiday parades each year, with authentically-decorated floats, unique performances and more.

Fri. & Sat. Dec. 1-2: Woodruff Christmas Stroll

  • Woodruff’s annual Christmas Stroll, featuring expanded holiday shopping and streetside food and drinks, expands to two nights in 2023 in the first weekend of December.

Thursday, Dec. 7: A Taste of Woodruff: Wassail Walk, 5:30-9 PM

  • Tickets are available for Woodruff’s first Wassail Walk, offering food and beverages on Main Street. Tickets are $15 and only for those 21 and older.

Saturday, Dec. 9: Town of Reidville Christmas Parade & Festival, 3-8 PM

  • The town of Reidville is hosting a Christmas movie-themed parade before a one-day holiday festival with food, drinks, Christmas crafts, photos with Santa, and much more.

Saturday, Dec. 9: Light Up Inman Tree Lighting, 5:30 PM

    • Inman will hold its Light Up Inman event, featuring tree lighting, parade, food, and pictures with Santa, on Dec. 9. (The event was moved from Dec. 2 due to inclement weather.)

Sunday, Dec. 10: Woodruff Christmas Parade, 3 PM

Tuesday, Dec. 12: Spartanburg Jaycees’ Christmas Parade, 6:30 PM

HOLIDAY MARKETS:

Shopping small is always the way to go, and many of Spartanburg’s local businesses, artisans, artists and crafters make holiday shopping easy.

Nov. 8-Dec. 23: Artists Collective Spartanburg 2023 Holiday Artisan Market, Tuesdays-Saturdays, 10 AM-4 PM

  • Artists from around Spartanburg will have handcrafted paintings, pottery, jewelry, and much more for sale during this month-plus long artisan market.

Saturday, Dec. 2: Drayton Mills’ Holiday Artisan Market, 10 AM-3 PM

  • The 4th annual Drayton Mills’ Holiday Artisan Market will showcase hand-crafted gifts for sale, and even baked goods! There will also be live music, drinks and snacks provided by Dray: Bar + Grill.

FAMILY ATTRACTIONS:

Nov. 25 – Dec. 31: The Inman Christmas House, 5:30pm-10pm

  • The Inman Christmas House (360 Foster Rd) showcases incredible light displays, with 115,000 lights on view nightly. This year’s FREE drive-thru displays include Frozen, Charlie Brown, a life-size nativity scene with live miniature donkeys, and more.

PERFORMANCES:

Dec. 8th-10th: Ballet Spartanburg’s The Nutcracker

  • An annual classic, Ballet Spartanburg returns for its 58th season this year with a collaborative set of performances with the Spartanburg Philharmonic. Follow Clara and the Nutcracker through Tchaikovsky’s most beloved Christmas musical score, with four performances at Converse University’s Twichell Auditorium, (580 East Main St.)
