Come On, Get Happy: Downtown Spartanburg’s Happy Hours

Cribb’s Kitchen

Who doesn’t love happy hour?

Whether it’s having a cocktail after slipping out of work early or grabbing a locally-brewed beer right after the clock strikes 5 p.m., happy hours can be the perfect way to unwind after a long day, or a good networking opportunity, moving work to a different, more causal scene.

For more than 100 years, happy hour has been the preferred term for pre-dinner fun. Starting in the U.S. Navy, the period of time right around when the typical workday ended was devoted to entertainment, including sports, dancing, movies, and of course, grabbing a drink with friends or colleagues.

Now, happy hours are an institution with breweries, restaurants, and bars bringing out deals to attract patrons looking to put the work day behind them.

So, if it was a slow day for you, and the clock slowly crept along after about 3 p.m., check out a few of these places to cure those end-of-day blues with some awesome happy hours!

Rockers Brewing Co.

Spartanburg’s first brewery and the popular restaurant next door have carved out Thursday as their prime happy hour time with their weekly Thursday Hoppy Hour.

NuWay Restaurant and Lounge

Nu Way Restaurant and Lounge

The NuWay, one of Spartanburg’s most popular vintage hangouts, is looking at tweaking their happy hour a bit, but for now, drink deals are offered almost every day starting at 7 p.m.

Mondays bring $1.50 Budweiser and Bud Light, while Tuesdays offer $2 well drinks. Wednesdays come with $2 tallboy PBRs and on Saturday, bourbon and vodka drinks are only $2.

The Kennedy

The Kennedy’s “All Day Happy Hour” lasts at the bar only from 4-9 p.m. Select specialty cocktails and snacks are $5 for anyone looking to enjoy the new-American vibe at the popular Spartanburg eatery.

Delaney’s Music Pub & Eatery

Delaney’s offers happy hour drink prices from 4-7 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays (in case the start of the work week gets a little rough) with $1 off all draft beers and liquor drinks. Delaney’s happy hour brings food into the mix, too, with buy-one-get-one half-off entrees from 5-10 p.m. Mondays.

Cribbs Kitchen

Anyone looking for a couple of drinks before dinner can take advantage of Cribbs’ happy hour, which lasts from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday-Friday.

Select wine is $5 per class. Well liquor drinks are $3 and all draft beers are $1 off normal price. On the weekend is where Cribbs’ drink deals shine, though.

If these happy hour offerings don’t quite wet your whistle, no worries, Spartanburg’s breweries will still have locally-crafted beers ice cold and ready to serve, and bars and restaurants across the county will have whatever drink you’re looking for. All you have to do is get out and explore.
