Nazareth Church was established by the 'Tyger River Colony' of Scots-Irish immigrants, the first Europeans to settle west of the Broad River after the Cherokee War in 1760. Many of the graves in the cemetery (on the National Register of Historic Places) date from that time. Portions of the present building date from 1832 and visitors will see a nice collection of congregational memorabilia.
