With a history that ranges from the prehistoric soapstone quarries that line the river through the vibrant textiles that came from the village mill, the Pacolet community rightfully prides itself on a distinctive heritage. The founders of Pacolet envisioned it as a model community of ___cultural, spiritual, recreational, educational and employment opportunities.___ Within the historic district there are over 250 arts and craft style homes, the largest concentration of this architecture in SC. Recent revitalization efforts continue to enhance this community, despite the loss of the textile industry here.
