Scrappy Shakespeare

Scrappy Shakespeare has returned to Spartanburg with an iconoclastic production of Romeo & Juliet, but in this production, Juliet writes teenage love songs while Romeo is a fan of underground punk. Fast-paced, funny, and tragic, this show will appeal to audiences of all ages.

TheMadddArtist - The Sound of Color Art Exhibit

“The Sound of Color” is TheMadddArtist's first public exhibit, consisting of about 20 works described as “abstract street art.” The reception will be held on July 19th from 5-9pm during the City of Spartanburg's monthly ArtWalk. TheMadddArtist is an abstract expressionist, performance artist, and street artist, who creates two-dimensional works with acrylics, spray paint, pastels, and mixed media.

We have a treat for young writers and readers in Spartanburg! Geanna Culberston is leading a free workshop at the bookshop around the theme of "The Making of A Hero-Princess." She will give a short talk on the topic and then lead a writing exercise consisting of several short writing prompts, encouraging young writers to share their work throughout the event.

Carolina Panthers Training Camp
July 26th - August 13th. Wofford College - Spartanburg, SC

The Panthers have held their training camp at Wofford College every summer since their inaugural season in 1995. Wofford College has one of the NFL's finest training facilities, a 60,000-square-foot Richardson Physical Activities Building, that helps host the team. The training camp has been ranked as one of the top five for fan friendliness by Peter King of Sports Illustrated.

Southern Baptist Sissies - Proud Mary Theatre Company

“Southern Baptist Sissies” follows the travails of four young Texan lads as they maneuver between the teachings of the Southern Baptist faith and their budding sexuality. This coming-of-age tale is set in Calvary Baptist Church and a nightclub in Dallas. It's directed by USC Upstate professor Barry Whitfield (playwright/director of Proud Mary’s world premiere of “The Kiss”). “Southern Baptist Sissies” is recommended for ages 16 and up. The Olde South Ball

Hogback Mountain Day

The Landrum Area Business Association, with City of Landrum, is bringing back Hogback Mountain Day on September 8 with a full day of activities starting at 8 am with a Farmers Market and concluding with Music at the Tracks and fireworks. The Mountain Market will have artisan vendors and food trucks, a vintage tractor show and, later in the afternoon, free amusement rides and hot dogs.
