To enhance the economic impact of tourism in Spartanburg County by increasing the length of stay and spending by travelers.
About the Convention & Visitors Bureau:
The Spartanburg Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) is the official destination marketing organization for the City and County of Spartanburg, South Carolina. The CVB was established in 1986 as a division of the Spartanburg Area Chamber of Commerce. It is charged with promoting and developing greater Spartanburg as a tourism destination.
The CVB is the official point of contact for convention and meeting planners, tournament and sports directors, and visitors. The CVB staff assists groups with meeting preparation, provides sports tourism information, and markets the region to travelers in order to increase overnight visitation and spending.
The CVB receives accommodations tax and hospitality tax funds from Spartanburg County and local municipalities to produce official tourism publications; manage the official tourism website for Spartanburg, and provide assistance to host meetings, conferences and major sporting events. It develops advertising and social media campaigns to attract visitors who will stay longer and spend more money.
The CVB administers an official Tourism Information Center at the Chamber offices at 105. N. Pine Street in Spartanburg, and has partnered with two Chamber Area Councils to operate satellite visitor centers in Chesnee and Landrum.
Additionally, the CVB keeps tourism industry partners updated on the latest in research trends and marketing programs, as well as business development opportunities.
